Ash was brought in as a stray from the Mitchell's Plain area of Cape Town. She was found laying on the side of the road; it is believed that she was knocked over by a motor vehicle. Ash suffered a severe fracture to her front left elbow and a large portion of her abdomen had been degloved, meaning the top layers of skin and tissue were torn off.

The vet determined that Ash would need to have her leg fixed via a complex pinning operation which could only done by a specialist. She would also need physiotherapy on the leg as she recovers. While she waits for this life-altering procedure, Ash is receiving daily bandage changes to keep the wound clear from infection.
